Nigeria shares lower at close of trade; NSE 30 down 0.44%
Credit: © Reuters. – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Banking , Oil & Gas and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 0.44%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Wapco (LAGOS: WAPCO ), which rose 5.00% or 2.00 points to trade at 40.25 at the close. Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS: IBTC ) added 3.00% or 1.50 points to end at 51.50 and Skye Bank (LAGOS: SKYEBAN ) was up 2.86% or 0.020 points to 0.700 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS: PZ ), which lost 4.79% or 0.95 points to trade at 18.90 in late trade. Wemabank (LAGOS: WEMABAN ) declined 4.11% or 0.030 points to end at 0.700 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS: DIAMONB ) shed 3.52% or 0.050 points to 1.360.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 54 to 33 and 16 ended unchanged on the Lagos.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.13% or 0.82 to $73.58 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $77.44 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.38% or 4.80 to trade at $1251.30 a troy ounce.

EUR/NGN was down 0.36% to 417.320, while USD/NGN rose 0.14% to 360.000.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 94.91.
