Nigeria shares higher at close of trade; NSE 30 up 2.18%
Credit: © Reuters. – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco , Banking and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 2.18%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Nestle Nig (LAGOS: NESTLE ), which rose 6.79% or 95.00 points to trade at 1480.00 at the close. Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS: GUARANT ) added 4.96% or 1.75 points to end at 36.95 and Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS: IBTC ) was up 4.76% or 2.00 points to 44.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Guiness Nig (LAGOS: GUINNES ), which lost 9.92% or 8.55 points to trade at 77.60 in late trade. Total Nig (LAGOS: TOTAL ) declined 5.11% or 9.70 points to end at 181.00 and Union Bank LG (LAGOS: UBN ) shed 2.86% or 0.15 points to 5.20.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 44 to 41 and 9 ended unchanged on the Lagos.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.24% or 0.17 to $72.25 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 1.03% or 0.83 to hit $81.36 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.09% or 1.10 to trade at $1205.50 a troy ounce.

EUR/NGN was down 0.57% to 425.190, while USD/NGN fell 0.14% to 363.000.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 93.72.
