Nigeria shares higher at close of trade; NSE 30 up 1.41%

Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco , Oil & Gas and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 1.41%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Wemabank (LAGOS: WEMABAN ), which rose 4.84% or 0.030 points to trade at 0.630 at the close. Unilever Nig (LAGOS: UNILEVE ) added 3.77% or 2.00 points to end at 55.00 and Fidelitybk (LAGOS: FIDELIT ) was up 3.11% or 0.050 points to 1.660 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Skye Bank (LAGOS: SKYEBAN ), which lost 7.69% or 0.040 points to trade at 0.500 in late trade. Uacn Prop (LAGOS: UACN ) declined 5.16% or 0.65 points to end at 11.95 and Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS: PZ ) shed 3.56% or 0.50 points to 13.55.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 53 to 31 and 18 ended unchanged on the Lagos.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.09% or 0.06 to $65.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.06% or 0.04 to hit $71.47 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.02% or 0.20 to trade at $1184.20 a troy ounce.

EUR/NGN was up 0.39% to 412.970, while USD/NGN rose 0.14% to 361.000.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 96.16.
