Nigeria shares higher at close of trade; NSE 30 up 0.36%

Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking , Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.36%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Wapco (LAGOS: WAPCO ), which rose 9.90% or 2.05 points to trade at 22.75 at the close. Uacn Prop (LAGOS: UACN ) added 8.82% or 0.90 points to end at 11.10 and Skye Bank (LAGOS: SKYEBAN ) was up 5.71% or 0.040 points to 0.700 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Total Nig (LAGOS: TOTAL ), which lost 6.69% or 12.70 points to trade at 177.00 in late trade. Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS: DANGFLOUR ) declined 2.63% or 0.20 points to end at 7.35 and Union Bank LG (LAGOS: UBN ) shed 2.59% or 0.15 points to 5.65.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 47 to 45 and 13 ended unchanged on the Lagos.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.58% or 0.41 to $70.36 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.89% or 0.71 to hit $78.69 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.22% or 2.60 to trade at $1210.90 a troy ounce.

EUR/NGN was up 0.41% to 425.470, while USD/NGN rose 0.14% to 362.500.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.59% at 93.56.
