Nigeria shares higher at close of trade; NSE 30 up 0.34%
Credit: © Reuters. – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Insurance , Banking and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 0.34%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Diamond Bank (LAGOS: DIAMONB ), which rose 6.56% or 0.080 points to trade at 1.300 at the close. Nestle Nig (LAGOS: NESTLE ) added 3.52% or 51.00 points to end at 1501.00 and Fbn Holdings (LAGOS: FBNH ) was up 2.66% or 0.250 points to 9.650 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Guiness Nig (LAGOS: GUINNES ), which lost 9.27% or 8.90 points to trade at 87.10 in late trade. Total Nig (LAGOS: TOTAL ) declined 6.00% or 12.00 points to end at 188.00 and Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS: DANGFLOUR ) shed 5.17% or 0.45 points to 8.30.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 58 to 29 and 20 ended unchanged on the Lagos.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.65% or 0.45 to $69.75 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.65% or 0.48 to hit $74.41 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.53% or 6.50 to trade at $1225.30 a troy ounce.

EUR/NGN was up 0.30% to 423.950, while USD/NGN rose 0.15% to 362.000.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.52% at 94.47.
