Nigeria shares higher at close of trade; NSE 30 up 0.16%
Credit: © Reuters. – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco , Insurance and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 0.16%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Nestle Nig (LAGOS: NESTLE ), which rose 6.52% or 98.00 points to trade at 1645.00 at the close. Total Nig (LAGOS: TOTAL ) added 4.37% or 8.00 points to end at 191.00 and Union Bank LG (LAGOS: UBN ) was up 2.54% or 0.15 points to 6.05 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Diamond Bank (LAGOS: DIAMONB ), which lost 10.00% or 0.140 points to trade at 1.260 in late trade. Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS: PZ ) declined 5.63% or 0.90 points to end at 15.30 and Guiness Nig (LAGOS: GUINNES ) shed 3.28% or 3.15 points to 92.85.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 53 to 35 and 15 ended unchanged on the Lagos.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.70% or 1.19 to $68.94 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.19% or 0.90 to hit $74.65 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.22% or 2.70 to trade at $1224.00 a troy ounce.

EUR/NGN was up 0.85% to 424.690, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 361.000.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 94.34.
