Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Software & Computer Services, Telecoms and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 1.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which rose 8.76% or 4.44 points to trade at 55.15 at the close. Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL) added 6.05% or 0.31 points to end at 5.45 and KPN Kon (AS:KPN) was up 3.42% or 0.114 points to 3.447 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 3.93% or 0.13 points to trade at 3.21 in late trade. Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) declined 0.76% or 0.14 points to end at 18.18 and OCI (AS:OCI) gained 0.05% or 0.010 points to 18.815.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 113 to 58 and 5 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 6.60% to 28.56.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 4.11% or 1.29 to $30.12 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 3.92% or 1.25 to hit $30.63 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.96% or 10.50 to trade at $1085.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.19% to 1.0838, while EUR/GBP rose 0.66% to 0.7515.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 99.17.
