Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Support Services, Oil & Gas and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 6.05% or 0.21 points to trade at 3.75 at the close. Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) added 2.11% or 0.42 points to end at 20.28 and DSM Kon (AS:DSMN) was up 1.81% or 0.82 points to 46.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included OCI (AS:OCI), which lost 0.65% or 0.145 points to trade at 22.100 in late trade. KPN Kon (AS:KPN) declined 0.39% or 0.013 points to end at 3.297 and Relx NV (AS:RELN) shed 0.33% or 0.050 points to 14.980.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 106 to 68 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 5.40% to 22.71.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 1.37% or 0.49 to $36.30 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.07% or 0.03 to hit $36.33 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.68% or 7.40 to trade at $1073.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.47% to 1.0966, while EUR/GBP rose 0.96% to 0.7403.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 98.14.
