Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the AEX Real Estate Investment Trusts, AEX Basic Material and AEX Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 1.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Akzo Nobel NV (AS:AKZO), which rose 2.78% or 1.56 points to trade at 57.76 at the close. DSM Firmenich AG (AS:DSFIR) added 2.71% or 2.56 points to end at 97.18 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 2.52% or 0.55 points to 22.39 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN), which fell 0.65% or 0.02 points to trade at 3.50 in late trade. Unilever PLC (AS:ULVR) declined 0.08% or 0.04 points to end at 53.10 and ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) 0.00% or 0.00 points to 712.70.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 74 to 24 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 21.09.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 2.28% or 1.74 to $78.11 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 1.84% or 1.47 to hit $81.39 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 1.21% or 32.44 to trade at $2,714.74 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.20% to 1.03, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.18% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 109.00.
