Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the AEX Technology, AEX Oil & Gas and AEX Consumer Good sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were BE Semiconductor Industries NV (AS:BESI), which rose 7.38% or 11.55 points to trade at 168.00 at the close. Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG) added 2.34% or 0.55 points to end at 24.06 and Akzo Nobel NV (AS:AKZO) was up 2.06% or 1.16 points to 57.36 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Universal Music Group NV (AS:UMG), which fell 1.36% or 0.38 points to trade at 27.48 in late trade. ASM International NV (AS:ASMI) declined 0.65% or 4.60 points to end at 703.20 and Shell PLC (AS:SHEL) down 0.51% or 0.18 points to 33.88.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 74 to 27 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 21.09.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.23% or 0.19 to $83.00 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.21% or 0.18 to hit $86.42 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 1.62% or 37.70 to trade at $2,371.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.48% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.12% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.46% at 104.92.
