Netherlands shares higher at close of trade; AEX up 0.34%

Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare , Consumer Goods and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.34%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ING Groep NV (AS: INGA ), which rose 3.64% or 0.362 points to trade at 10.294 at the close. Aegon NV (AS: AEGN ) added 2.67% or 0.116 points to end at 4.466 and Galapagos NV (AS: GLPG ) was up 2.40% or 2.160 points to 92.000 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Heineken (AS: HEIN ), which lost 1.78% or 1.36 points to trade at 75.12 in late trade. Altice NV (AS: ATCA ) declined 1.76% or 0.03 points to end at 1.70 and Unilever NV DRC (AS: UNc ) shed 1.32% or 0.61 points to 46.03.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 71 to 57 and 12 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

The AEX Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 7.08% to 15.79 a new 1-month low.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.59% or 0.31 to $51.80 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.05% or 0.03 to hit $60.67 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.47% or 6.05 to trade at $1294.45 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.10% to 1.1402, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.8873.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.00% at 95.672.
