Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the S&P/BMV Industrials Select, Consumer Goods & Services and S&P/BMV Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC gained 0.59%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Megacable Holdings, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:MEGACPO), which rose 7.02% or 2.38 points to trade at 36.29 at the close. Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALSEA) added 5.54% or 2.41 points to end at 45.90 and Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (BMV:PEOLES) was up 2.79% or 7.42 points to 273.62 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Qualitas Controladora, SAB De CV (BMV:Q), which fell 3.29% or 5.77 points to trade at 169.64 in late trade. Gentera SAB de CV (BMV:GENTERA) declined 2.39% or 0.58 points to end at 23.72 and Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV:VOLARA) down 1.73% or 0.27 points to 15.36.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 105 to 92 and 16 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.12% or 29.64 to $2,670.64 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.98% or 1.42 to hit $73.14 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.69% or 1.26 to trade at $75.90 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 1.14% to 20.60, while EUR/MXN fell 2.01% to 21.14.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.74% at 109.10.
