Mexico shares higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.15% – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Goods & Services , Consumer Staples and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 0.15%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: ELEKTRA ), which rose 2.96% or 18.56 points to trade at 645.00 at the close. Fomento Economico Mexicano UBD (MX: FMSAUBD ) added 2.30% or 3.85 points to end at 171.60 and Gentera SAB de CV (MX: GENTERA ) was up 2.13% or 0.330 points to 15.840 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Becle SA (MX: CUERVO ), which lost 2.66% or 0.890 points to trade at 32.550 in late trade. Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: ALFAA ) declined 2.18% or 0.510 points to end at 22.920 and Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico SAB De CV Class B (MX: GAPB ) shed 1.74% or 3.26 points to 184.22.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 179 to 121 and 13 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.41% or 5.60 to $1349.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.49% or 0.30 to hit $61.64 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.85% or 0.55 to trade at $64.88 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.12% to 18.5251, while EUR/MXN fell 0.65% to 22.9864.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.63% at 89.03.
