Japan shares lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 1.26%

Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Power , Non-Metal Minerals and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 1.26%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Alps Electric Co., Ltd. (T: 6770 ), which rose 3.38% or 75.0 points to trade at 2296.0 at the close. Toho Co., Ltd. (T: 9602 ) added 3.03% or 95.0 points to end at 3235.0 and Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd. (T: 5214 ) was up 2.97% or 15.0 points to 520.0 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Isuzu Motors, Ltd. (T: 7202 ), which lost 5.39% or 68.5 points to trade at 1201.5 in late trade. Sumitomo Realty & Development Co. (T: 8830 ) declined 5.02% or 141.0 points to end at 2670.5 and Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. (T: 8801 ) shed 4.36% or 98.5 points to 2160.5.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1485 to 447 and 127 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 6.34% to 24.48 a new 1-month high.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.16% or 0.07 to $43.65 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.44% or 0.20 to hit $46.05 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.14% or 1.85 to trade at $1324.25 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.12% to 102.31, while EUR/JPY fell 0.26% to 114.95.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 95.45.
