Japan shares lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 0.68%

Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Insurance , Mining and Warehousing sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.68%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (T: 6703 ), which rose 3.97% or 6.0 points to trade at 157.0 at the close. Tokyo Dome Corp. (T: 9681 ) added 2.69% or 13.0 points to end at 496.0 and Kyowa Hakko Kirin Co., Ltd. (T: 4151 ) was up 2.23% or 39.0 points to 1791.0 in late trade.

Biggest losers included JTEKT Corp. (T: 6473 ), which lost 4.73% or 77.0 points to trade at 1551.0 in late trade. Alps Electric Co., Ltd. (T: 6770 ) declined 3.91% or 85.0 points to end at 2091.0 and Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T: 5707 ) shed 3.53% or 11.0 points to 301.0.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 927 to 816 and 147 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 8.13% to 25.44 a new 1-month low.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 1.40% or 0.52 to $36.66 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.26% or 0.50 to hit $39.03 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 1.26% or 15.70 to trade at $1229.40 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.34% to 113.44, while EUR/JPY fell 0.33% to 125.97.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.01% at 96.61.
