Japan shares lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 0.18%

Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Rubber , Shipbuilding and Finance & Investment sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Shimizu Corp. (T: 1803 ), which rose 6.03% or 56.0 points to trade at 984.0 at the close. Trend Micro Inc. (T: 4704 ) added 5.05% or 190.0 points to end at 3950.0 and Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (T: 5233 ) was up 4.65% or 13.0 points to 292.5 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shiseido Co., Ltd. (T: 4911 ), which lost 7.50% or 208.5 points to trade at 2571.0 in late trade. Bridgestone Corp. (T: 5108 ) declined 6.80% or 246.0 points to end at 3370.0 and Showa Denko K.K. (T: 4004 ) shed 5.08% or 54.0 points to 1008.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1088 to 831 and 138 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.26% to 19.51 a new 6-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.84% or 0.36 to $42.41 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.80% or 0.36 to hit $44.62 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.00% or 13.45 to trade at $1360.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.46% to 101.41, while EUR/JPY fell 0.19% to 113.03.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.28% at 95.79.
