Japan shares lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 0.00%

Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Steel , Insurance and Chemical sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.00%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Comsys Holdings Corp. (T: 1721 ), which rose 6.98% or 120.0 points to trade at 1839.0 at the close. The Chiba Bank, Ltd. (T: 8331 ) added 6.50% or 32.0 points to end at 524.0 and Mitsubishi Logistics Corp. (T: 9301 ) was up 5.44% or 81.0 points to 1570.0 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Toyobo Co., Ltd. (T: 3101 ), which lost 11.86% or 23.0 points to trade at 171.0 in late trade. Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. (T: 1332 ) declined 9.04% or 45.0 points to end at 453.0 and DeNA Co Ltd (T: 2432 ) shed 8.20% or 217.0 points to 2429.0.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1262 to 652 and 143 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 8.78% to 21.51 a new 6-month low.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.14% or 0.48 to $41.45 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.17% or 0.52 to hit $43.77 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.20% or 2.75 to trade at $1370.15 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.17% to 101.05, while EUR/JPY fell 0.10% to 112.56.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 95.64.
