Japan shares lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 0.77%

Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp , Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.77%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Fanuc Corp. (T: 6954 ), which rose 2.23% or 445.0 points to trade at 20410.0 at the close. SUMCO Corp. (T: 3436 ) added 1.86% or 27.0 points to end at 1477.0 and Advantest Corp. (T: 6857 ) was up 1.69% or 80.0 points to 4820.0 in late trade.

Biggest losers included The Kansai Electric Power Co. (T: 9503 ), which lost 5.71% or 79.5 points to trade at 1314.0 in late trade. Sumitomo Corp. (T: 8053 ) declined 4.60% or 81.5 points to end at 1692.0 and The Chiba Bank, Ltd. (T: 8331 ) shed 4.42% or 26.0 points to 562.0.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2604 to 985 and 155 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 17.17.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.44% or 0.25 to $56.16 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.73% or 0.46 to hit $62.28 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.61% or 9.20 to trade at $1506.00 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.00% to 107.83, while EUR/JPY fell 0.08% to 117.66.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 98.938.
