Japan shares lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 0.76%

Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Precision Instruments , Railway & Bus and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.76%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were The Kansai Electric Power Co. (T: 9503 ), which rose 3.51% or 54.5 points to trade at 1609.0 at the close. Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (T: 9502 ) added 3.26% or 51.0 points to end at 1617.5 and Keio Corp. (T: 9008 ) was up 2.36% or 130.0 points to 5640.0 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T: 7735 ), which lost 7.96% or 630.0 points to trade at 7280.0 in late trade. Advantest Corp. (T: 6857 ) declined 7.17% or 189.0 points to end at 2446.0 and Tokyo Electron Ltd. (T: 8035 ) shed 5.95% or 1070.0 points to 16915.0.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2212 to 1167 and 222 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 2.61% to 16.90.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.30% or 0.20 to $67.97 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.24% or 0.18 to hit $76.68 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.18% or 2.20 to trade at $1206.50 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.04% to 110.71, while EUR/JPY rose 0.16% to 128.93.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 94.87.
