Japan shares lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 0.62%

Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Communication , Transport and Financial Services sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.62%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Dentsu Inc. (T: 4324 ), which rose 2.73% or 150.0 points to trade at 5640.0 at the close. Toyo Seikan Group Holdings, Ltd. (T: 5901 ) added 2.26% or 53.0 points to end at 2399.0 and Kikkoman Corp. (T: 2801 ) was up 1.81% or 120.0 points to 6740.0 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Showa Denko K.K. (T: 4004 ), which lost 5.19% or 320.0 points to trade at 5840.0 in late trade. Credit Saison Co., Ltd. (T: 8253 ) declined 4.66% or 88.0 points to end at 1802.0 and Honda Motor Co Ltd (T: 7267 ) shed 4.25% or 148.0 points to 3338.0.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2660 to 766 and 196 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 1.65% to 17.22 a new 1-month high.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.33% or 0.25 to $75.48 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.44% or 0.37 to hit $85.17 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.01% or 0.10 to trade at $1206.90 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.17% to 113.85, while EUR/JPY rose 0.40% to 131.77.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 95.02.
