Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Transportation Equipment, Shipbuilding and Trading sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Shimizu Corp. (TYO:1803), which rose 19.54% or 202.00 points to trade at 1,236.00 at the close. Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (TYO:7201) added 12.81% or 47.20 points to end at 415.80 and Renesas Electronics Corp (TYO:6723) was up 8.20% or 163.50 points to 2,156.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included DOWA Holdings Co., Ltd. (TYO:5714), which fell 8.67% or 457.00 points to trade at 4,813.00 in late trade. DeNA Co Ltd (TYO:2432) declined 6.65% or 164.00 points to end at 2,303.00 and Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (TYO:7735) down 4.62% or 458.00 points to 9,464.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 1823 to 1756 and 282 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Shares in Shimizu Corp. (TYO:1803) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 19.54% or 202.00 to 1,236.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 5.38% to 26.04.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.29% or 0.20 to $67.84 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.24% or 0.17 to hit $71.66 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.18% or 4.60 to trade at $2,613.10 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.01% to 153.73, while EUR/JPY fell 0.18% to 163.50.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 105.61.
