Japan shares lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 0.33%

Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Transportation Equipment , Insurance and Shipbuilding sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.33%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nisshin Steel Holdings Co., Ltd. (T: 5413 ), which rose 3.07% or 43.0 points to trade at 1444.0 at the close. Central Japan Railway Co. (T: 9022 ) added 2.70% or 525.0 points to end at 20000.0 and Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T: 5707 ) was up 2.54% or 12.0 points to 484.0 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (T: 6976 ), which lost 5.39% or 93.0 points to trade at 1632.0 in late trade. Minebea Mitsumi Inc (T: 6479 ) declined 3.36% or 61.0 points to end at 1757.0 and SUMCO Corp. (T: 3436 ) shed 3.34% or 60.0 points to 1735.0.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1744 to 1502 and 246 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 2.64% to 14.02.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.44% or 0.23 to $51.99 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.65% or 0.38 to hit $58.05 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.14% or 1.90 to trade at $1309.60 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.04% to 111.68, while EUR/JPY fell 0.35% to 131.90.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 92.66.
