Japan shares lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 0.25%

Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Precision Instruments , Retail and Chemical sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.25%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Shinsei Bank, Ltd. (T: 8303 ), which rose 2.33% or 4.0 points to trade at 175.5 at the close. Toyobo Co., Ltd. (T: 3101 ) added 1.99% or 4.0 points to end at 205.0 and Credit Saison Co., Ltd. (T: 8253 ) was up 1.85% or 40.0 points to 2199.0 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (T: 3099 ), which lost 5.08% or 60.0 points to trade at 1120.0 in late trade. JFE Holdings, Inc. (T: 5411 ) declined 4.68% or 104.5 points to end at 2128.5 and Shiseido Co., Ltd. (T: 4911 ) shed 4.54% or 201.0 points to 4231.0.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2184 to 1048 and 241 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.76% to 13.55 a new 1-month low.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.06% or 0.03 to $50.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.11% or 0.06 to hit $56.37 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.43% or 5.56 to trade at $1300.36 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.43% to 111.99, while EUR/JPY rose 0.04% to 134.36.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 91.63.
