Japan shares higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.15%

Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Precision Instruments , Financial Services and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.15% to hit a new 6-month high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (T: 5233 ), which rose 9.56% or 27.0 points to trade at 309.5 at the close. Pioneer Corp. (T: 6773 ) added 7.08% or 17.0 points to end at 257.0 and Unitika, Ltd. (T: 3103 ) was up 4.35% or 3.0 points to 72.0 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (T: 7211 ), which lost 4.00% or 24.0 points to trade at 575.5 in late trade. Komatsu Ltd. (T: 6301 ) declined 2.46% or 58.5 points to end at 2320.5 and Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd. (T: 5214 ) shed 2.43% or 14.0 points to 563.0.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1923 to 1026 and 350 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.00% to 18.20 a new 52-week low.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 1.10% or 0.55 to $49.41 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.91% or 0.46 to hit $50.33 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.16% or 2.05 to trade at $1275.65 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.06% to 104.17, while EUR/JPY rose 0.11% to 113.63.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 98.58.
