Japan shares higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 1.22%

Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic , Transportation Equipment and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 1.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Ube Industries, Ltd. (T: 4208 ), which rose 4.75% or 150.0 points to trade at 3310.0 at the close. Yamato Holdings Co., Ltd. (T: 9064 ) added 3.88% or 104.5 points to end at 2796.5 and Nissan Chemical Industries, Ltd. (T: 4021 ) was up 3.73% or 150.0 points to 4170.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T: 5301 ), which lost 4.41% or 87.0 points to trade at 1884.0 in late trade. Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T: 5707 ) declined 3.36% or 200.0 points to end at 5750.0 and Chiyoda Corp. (T: 6366 ) shed 3.02% or 32.0 points to 1028.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2306 to 1084 and 184 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 11.72% to 22.08.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.24% or 0.15 to $63.70 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $67.06 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.89% or 11.90 to trade at $1342.20 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.33% to 106.44, while EUR/JPY fell 0.11% to 131.26.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 89.52.
