Japan shares higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.82%

Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Transport , Fishery and Transportation Equipment sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.82%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (T: 4568 ), which rose 15.91% or 700.0 points to trade at 5100.0 at the close. Kyowa Hakko Kirin Co., Ltd. (T: 4151 ) added 4.06% or 94.0 points to end at 2410.0 and Daikin Industries, Ltd. (T: 6367 ) was up 3.31% or 415.0 points to 12970.0 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Chiyoda Corp. (T: 6366 ), which lost 3.30% or 9.0 points to trade at 264.0 in late trade. Subaru Corp (T: 7270 ) declined 2.72% or 70.5 points to end at 2522.5 and The Shizuoka Bank, Ltd. (T: 8355 ) shed 1.75% or 15.0 points to 843.0.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1950 to 1535 and 194 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.18% to 17.20.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.84% or 0.50 to $59.80 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.55% or 0.37 to hit $67.47 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.14% or 1.85 to trade at $1293.45 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.16% to 110.80, while EUR/JPY rose 0.22% to 124.46.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 96.797.
