Japan shares higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.77%

Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic , Mining and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.77%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Yaskawa Electric Corp. (T: 6506 ), which rose 4.15% or 135.0 points to trade at 3385.0 at the close. Chiyoda Corp. (T: 6366 ) added 3.57% or 10.0 points to end at 290.0 and Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K. (T: 5002 ) was up 2.98% or 49.0 points to 1696.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Unitika, Ltd. (T: 3103 ), which lost 2.09% or 9.0 points to trade at 422.0 in late trade. T&D Holdings, Inc. (T: 8795 ) declined 2.01% or 24.0 points to end at 1173.0 and Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T: 5707 ) shed 1.76% or 60.0 points to 3350.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2211 to 1297 and 216 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.17% to 16.99.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.43% or 0.25 to $58.86 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.51% or 0.34 to hit $67.57 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.61% or 7.95 to trade at $1303.05 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.01% to 111.72, while EUR/JPY rose 0.22% to 126.52.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 96.607.
