Japan shares higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.30%

Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp , Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.30%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (T: 9107 ), which rose 3.66% or 51.0 points to trade at 1446.0 at the close. Softbank Group Corp. (T: 9984 ) added 3.44% or 178.0 points to end at 5350.0 and CyberAgent Inc (T: 4751 ) was up 2.54% or 105.0 points to 4240.0 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. (T: 9983 ), which lost 1.78% or 1190.0 points to trade at 65640.0 in late trade. Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (T: 5233 ) declined 1.51% or 50.0 points to end at 3270.0 and Toyo Seikan Group Holdings, Ltd. (T: 5901 ) shed 1.36% or 29.0 points to 2110.0.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2545 to 960 and 216 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 14.80 a new 6-month low.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.13% or 0.65 to $56.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.07% or 0.68 to hit $63.14 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.27% or 3.85 to trade at $1417.05 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was unchanged 0.00% to 107.82, while EUR/JPY rose 0.05% to 121.66.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 96.345.
