Japan shares higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.18%

Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Power , Manufacturing and Glass sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.18% to hit a new 3-month high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Maruha Nichiro Corp (T: 1333 ), which rose 5.69% or 210.0 points to trade at 3900.0 at the close. Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (T: 9501 ) added 5.67% or 32.0 points to end at 596.0 and Marubeni Corp. (T: 8002 ) was up 4.76% or 39.1 points to 860.0 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Tokyo Tatemono Co., Ltd. (T: 8804 ), which lost 4.23% or 72.0 points to trade at 1631.0 in late trade. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (T: 7011 ) declined 4.04% or 173.0 points to end at 4113.0 and Advantest Corp. (T: 6857 ) shed 3.58% or 100.0 points to 2691.0.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2238 to 1133 and 194 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 1.65% to 15.42.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 1.30% or 0.92 to $69.81 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.96% or 0.73 to hit $75.44 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.17% or 2.20 to trade at $1311.90 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.06% to 109.03, while EUR/JPY fell 0.36% to 129.60.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 92.88.
