Japan shares higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.13%

Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp , Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.13%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tokuyama Corp. (T: 4043 ), which rose 3.69% or 100.0 points to trade at 2812.0 at the close. Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (T: 4568 ) added 3.25% or 188.0 points to end at 5977.0 and NTT Data Corp. (T: 9613 ) was up 3.20% or 44.0 points to 1418.0 in late trade.

Biggest losers included CyberAgent Inc (T: 4751 ), which lost 4.80% or 190.0 points to trade at 3765.0 in late trade. Familymart Ltd (T: 8028 ) declined 2.86% or 77.0 points to end at 2615.0 and SKY Perfect JSAT Holdings Inc. (T: 9412 ) shed 2.78% or 12.0 points to 420.0.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1800 to 1684 and 241 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 16.00.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.91% or 0.52 to $57.95 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.37% or 0.24 to hit $64.69 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.54% or 7.55 to trade at $1407.65 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.11% to 107.42, while EUR/JPY rose 0.36% to 122.38.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 95.580.
