Italy shares lower at close of trade; Investing.com Italy 40 down 0.05%

Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms , Chemicals and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 fell 0.05% to hit a new 52-week low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Mediobanca (MI: MDBI ), which rose 3.06% or 0.234 points to trade at 7.878 at the close. Poste Italiane SpA (MI: PST ) added 2.45% or 0.150 points to end at 6.270 and Saipem SpA (MI: SPMI ) was up 1.98% or 0.0930 points to 4.7940 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Pirelli & C SPA (MI: PIRC ), which lost 5.05% or 0.31 points to trade at 5.87 in late trade. Banca Generali (MI: BGN ) declined 3.70% or 0.73 points to end at 19.00 and Prysmian (MI: PRY ) shed 3.51% or 0.62 points to 17.18.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 257 to 126 and 20 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.79% or 0.54 to $69.19 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.93% or 0.74 to hit $80.03 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.05% or 0.60 to trade at $1230.70 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was up 0.52% to 1.1514, while EUR/GBP rose 0.34% to 0.8828.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 95.43.
