Italy shares lower at close of trade; Investing.com Italy 40 down 0.02%

Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms , Travel & Leisure and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 fell 0.02%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Saipem SpA (MI: SPMI ), which rose 2.99% or 0.1250 points to trade at 4.3110 at the close. Unione di Banche Italiane SpA (MI: UBI ) added 1.73% or 0.0610 points to end at 3.5890 and Azimut Holding (MI: AZMT ) was up 1.80% or 0.25 points to 14.11 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Banco Bpm (MI: BAMI ), which lost 5.95% or 0.149 points to trade at 2.354 in late trade. Mediobanca (MI: MDBI ) declined 1.65% or 0.146 points to end at 8.680 and Ferrari NV (MI: RACE ) shed 0.46% or 0.50 points to 107.30.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 184 to 153 and 36 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.87% or 1.28 to $69.77 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.31% or 0.96 to hit $74.17 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.38% or 4.70 to trade at $1218.50 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.08% to 1.1559, while EUR/GBP rose 0.40% to 0.8933.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 95.17.
