Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Power and Capital Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty rose 0.68%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.63%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were Housing Development Finance Corp. (NSE:HDFC), which rose 3.15% or 40.60 points to trade at 1328.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Power Co. Ltd (NSE:TTPW) added 2.56% or 2.15 points to end at 86.25 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NSE:HCLT) was up 2.43% or 48.30 points to 2033.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hero MotoCorp Limited (NSE:HROM), which fell 5.04% or 141.25 points to trade at 2663.75 at the close. NMDC Ltd (NSE:NMDC) declined 4.35% or 6.35 points to end at 139.65 and DLF LIMITED (NSE:DLF) was down 3.57% or 5.55 points to 149.95.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Housing Development Finance Corp. (BO:HDFC) which rose 2.96% to 1326.200, Tata Power Co. Ltd (BO:TTPW) which was up 2.50% to settle at 86.100 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which gained 1.88% to close at 2633.900.
The worst performers were Hero MotoCorp Limited (BO:HROM) which was down 5.09% to 2663.450 in late trade, Sesa Sterlite Ltd (BO:SESA) which lost 3.19% to settle at 204.900 and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (BO:BRTI) which was down 2.43% to 351.800 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 398 to 226; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 328 rose and 177 declined.
Shares in HCL Technologies Ltd (NSE:HCLT) rose to all time highs; rising 2.43% or 48.30 to 2033.15.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of S&P CNX Nifty options, was up 0.42% to 20.9125.
Gold for April delivery was down 0.25% or 3.00 to $1205.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in April fell 1.58% or 0.86 to hit $53.43 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 2.06% or 1.28 to trade at $61.24 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.26% to 62.318, while EUR/INR rose 0.05% to 70.9575.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 94.30.
