Investing.com – India equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Oil & Gas and Metals sectors led shares higher while losses in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Healthcare and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.26%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Trent Ltd (NSE:TREN), which rose 4.08% or 195.75 points to trade at 4,995.45 at the close. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NSE:BPCL) added 2.98% or 7.65 points to end at 264.58 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NSE:SUN) was up 2.72% or 43.80 points to 1,655.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NSE:INBK), which fell 27.16% or 244.55 points to trade at 655.95 in late trade. Infosys Ltd (NSE:INFY) declined 2.34% or 39.85 points to end at 1,661.60 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NSE:MAHM) down 2.11% or 57.00 points to 2,645.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 2.62% to 1,653.30, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was up 2.40% to settle at 1,243.70 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which gained 1.85% to close at 1,659.85.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 27.02% to 657.25 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 2.15% to settle at 1,666.20 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was down 1.82% to 1,805.45 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 1647 to 694 and 88 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2398 fell and 1409 advanced, while 119 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
Shares in IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NSE:INBK) fell to 3-year lows; down 27.16% or 244.55 to 655.95. Shares in IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) fell to 3-year lows; down 27.02% or 243.35 to 657.25.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.64% to 14.07.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.66% or 19.24 to $2,918.64 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.08% or 0.71 to hit $66.74 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.10% or 0.76 to trade at $70.04 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.05% to 87.25, while EUR/INR rose 0.39% to 94.96.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.39% at 103.55.
