Investing.com – India equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Power and Consumer Durables sectors led shares higher while losses in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Healthcare and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.08%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Electronics Ltd (NSE:BAJE), which rose 4.52% or 11.14 points to trade at 257.39 at the close. Grasim Industries Ltd (NSE:GRAS) added 3.07% or 70.80 points to end at 2,377.45 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NSE:EICH) was up 2.79% or 133.00 points to 4,906.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Coal India Ltd (NSE:COAL), which fell 2.44% or 9.00 points to trade at 360.35 in late trade. Reliance Industries Ltd (NSE:RELI) declined 2.40% or 28.85 points to end at 1,171.25 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (NSE:BAJA) down 2.38% or 188.10 points to 7,714.80.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which rose 2.21% to 10,337.55, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was up 1.76% to settle at 1,597.25 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which gained 1.64% to close at 316.05.
The worst performers were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 2.17% to 1,173.55 in late trade, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which lost 1.84% to settle at 1,838.55 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was down 1.52% to 1,704.75 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 1749 to 612 and 79 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2755 fell and 1153 advanced, while 146 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
Shares in Reliance Industries Ltd (NSE:RELI) fell to 52-week lows; falling 2.40% or 28.85 to 1,171.25. Shares in Bajaj Auto Ltd (NSE:BAJA) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.38% or 188.10 to 7,714.80. Shares in Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.17% or 26.05 to 1,173.55.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.98% to 13.64.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.12% or 31.79 to $2,880.29 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.29% or 0.20 to hit $69.56 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.16% or 0.12 to trade at $72.69 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.14% to 87.35, while EUR/INR rose 0.28% to 91.18.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.54% at 106.98.
