Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Auto, Banking and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 1.41%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 1.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL), which rose 2.85% or 28.50 points to trade at 1,030.05 at the close. LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:LTIM) added 1.76% or 108.25 points to end at 6,244.35 and NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) was up 1.44% or 6.30 points to 443.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which fell 4.11% or 244.95 points to trade at 5,712.40 in late trade. Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) declined 3.25% or 99.20 points to end at 2,953.15 and Axis Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) down 3.22% or 40.95 points to 1,232.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were JSW Steel Ltd (BO:JSTL) which rose 2.86% to 1,030.45, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was up 1.25% to settle at 443.00 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which gained 1.08% to close at 168.30.
The worst performers were Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 3.15% to 1,232.10 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which lost 3.09% to settle at 2,957.95 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was down 2.56% to 1,273.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 1493 to 1011 and 102 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2072 fell and 1789 advanced, while 150 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 6.90% to 12.79.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.14% or 3.80 to $2,664.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.10% or 0.07 to hit $68.25 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.22% or 0.16 to trade at $71.70 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.09% to 83.79, while EUR/INR rose 0.29% to 93.72.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 100.10.
