Bank stock jumps 5% after Tikri Partners bought 2.2% stake in the company via bulk deal
Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Auto, Power and Consumer Durables sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 1.05%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 1.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Coal India Ltd (NSE:COAL), which rose 1.53% or 6.15 points to trade at 408.85 at the close. Tata Steel Ltd (NSE:TISC) added 1.28% or 2.01 points to end at 159.58 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NSE:HALC) was up 1.16% or 7.65 points to 666.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NSE:HROM), which fell 3.16% or 138.70 points to trade at 4,249.00 in late trade. Bajaj Auto Ltd (NSE:BAJA) declined 2.80% or 247.50 points to end at 8,603.50 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NSE:MRTI) down 2.67% or 347.00 points to 12,642.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which rose 1.27% to 159.50, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 0.23% to settle at 1,562.80 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which gained 0.07% to close at 435.40.
The worst performers were Eternal Ltd (BO:ETEA) which was down 4.24% to 227.90 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which lost 2.76% to settle at 12,630.00 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was down 2.04% to 11,673.30 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 1635 to 754 and 22 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2388 fell and 1422 advanced, while 127 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.36% to 17.42.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.08% or 2.51 to $3,236.01 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.16% or 0.10 to hit $62.04 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.18% or 0.12 to trade at $65.42 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.24% to 85.59, while EUR/INR rose 0.31% to 96.30.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 100.17.
