Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Technology, Banking and Capital Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.82%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.97%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which rose 5.21% or 12.82 points to trade at 258.89 at the close. Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) added 3.31% or 25.35 points to end at 790.40 and Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) was up 1.85% or 62.70 points to 3,451.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR), which fell 3.08% or 9.35 points to trade at 294.45 in late trade. HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) declined 2.48% or 44.55 points to end at 1,749.20 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) down 2.17% or 37.50 points to 1,689.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which rose 3.14% to 788.95, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was up 1.51% to settle at 2,233.35 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which gained 1.48% to close at 3,441.65.
The worst performers were Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was down 2.75% to 295.30 in late trade, HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which lost 2.50% to settle at 1,748.50 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 2.23% to 1,689.10 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 1131 to 1097 and 164 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2021 rose and 1779 declined, while 114 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.09% to 13.59.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.04% or 1.06 to $2,667.94 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.25% or 0.18 to hit $72.95 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.28% or 0.21 to trade at $75.72 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.03% to 85.79, while EUR/INR rose 0.19% to 88.23.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 108.91.
