Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Saturday, as losses in the Capital Goods, Power and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.44%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Britannia Industries Ltd (NSE:BRIT), which rose 1.04% or 50.95 points to trade at 4,939.65 at the close. ICICI Bank Ltd (NSE:ICBK) added 0.90% or 11.20 points to end at 1,260.10 and Nestle India Ltd (NSE:NEST) was up 0.84% or 18.30 points to 2,195.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NSE:APSE), which fell 4.39% or 48.85 points to trade at 1,062.70 in late trade. Bharat Electronics Ltd (NSE:BAJE) declined 4.28% or 11.20 points to end at 250.35 and Adani Enterprises Ltd (NSE:ADEL) down 4.10% or 92.05 points to 2,152.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which rose 0.80% to 1,258.45, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was up 0.77% to settle at 2,194.10 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 0.71% to close at 1,856.30.
The worst performers were Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which was down 4.20% to 1,062.90 in late trade, UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which lost 2.47% to settle at 11,257.60 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 2.40% to 1,704.65 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 0 to 0; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 0 fell and 0 advanced on the India National Stock Exchange.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.40% to 15.02.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.52% or 44.70 to $2,900.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.77% or 0.55 to hit $70.74 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.37% or 0.28 to trade at $74.74 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.08% to 86.62, while EUR/INR rose 0.18% to 90.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.60% at 106.58.
