Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate, Auto and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.39%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Electronics Ltd (NSE:BAJE), which rose 1.17% or 3.24 points to trade at 280.07 at the close. State Bank Of India (NSE:SBI) added 0.66% or 4.80 points to end at 727.85 and NTPC Ltd (NSE:NTPC) was up 0.53% or 1.75 points to 331.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shriram Finance Ltd. (NSE:SHMF), which fell 2.73% or 17.40 points to trade at 619.55 in late trade. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NSE:HROM) declined 2.25% or 81.10 points to end at 3,529.15 and Tata Motors Ltd (NSE:TAMO) down 1.92% or 12.80 points to 655.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which rose 0.75% to 728.35, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was up 0.49% to settle at 1,248.75 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which gained 0.45% to close at 268.30.
The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 2.00% to 655.05 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which lost 1.78% to settle at 672.50 and Zomato Ltd (BO:ZOMT) which was down 1.34% to 202.70 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 1626 to 691 and 109 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2350 fell and 1474 advanced, while 122 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.72% to 13.32.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.19% or 5.69 to $2,952.49 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.52% or 0.35 to hit $67.33 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.45% or 0.32 to trade at $70.63 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.11% to 87.06, while EUR/INR fell 0.30% to 94.60.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 103.71.
