Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate, Consumer Durables and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.29%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Cipla Ltd. (NSE:CIPL), which rose 2.42% or 34.70 points to trade at 1,471.50 at the close. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NSE:APSE) added 1.72% or 19.70 points to end at 1,164.05 and Infosys Ltd (NSE:INFY) was up 0.98% or 18.60 points to 1,915.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Trent Ltd (NSE:TREN), which fell 8.22% or 472.85 points to trade at 5,277.10 in late trade. Bharat Electronics Ltd (NSE:BAJE) declined 3.18% or 9.20 points to end at 279.75 and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NSE:BRTI) down 2.45% or 40.70 points to 1,619.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which rose 1.99% to 1,167.00, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 0.94% to settle at 1,915.00 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which gained 0.86% to close at 1,675.00.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 2.33% to 1,621.95 in late trade, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which lost 2.20% to settle at 3,413.80 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 1.78% to 313.85 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 1245 to 1049 and 109 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1889 fell and 1885 advanced, while 125 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.21% to 14.11.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.35% or 10.01 to $2,882.99 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.99% or 0.70 to hit $71.73 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.90% or 0.67 to trade at $75.28 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.24% to 87.54, while EUR/INR fell 0.08% to 90.75.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 107.86.
