Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Real Estate and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.14%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NSE:INBK), which rose 4.38% or 28.75 points to trade at 684.70 at the close. Tata Motors Ltd (NSE:TAMO) added 3.12% or 20.25 points to end at 668.30 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NSE:KTKM) was up 2.45% or 47.35 points to 1,982.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Infosys Ltd (NSE:INFY), which fell 4.26% or 70.75 points to trade at 1,590.85 in late trade. Wipro Ltd (NSE:WIPR) declined 3.31% or 9.20 points to end at 268.55 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NSE:TEML) down 2.77% or 40.90 points to 1,438.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 4.42% to 684.95, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was up 3.19% to settle at 668.50 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which gained 2.37% to close at 1,980.80.
The worst performers were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 4.18% to 1,591.25 in late trade, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which lost 2.80% to settle at 1,437.80 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was down 2.43% to 2,196.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 1595 to 738 and 106 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2382 fell and 1449 advanced, while 132 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.59% to 13.71.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.06% or 1.71 to $2,919.19 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.00% or 0.66 to hit $66.91 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.91% or 0.63 to trade at $70.19 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.08% to 87.24, while EUR/INR fell 0.02% to 95.19.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 103.52.
