Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.13%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Electronics Ltd (NSE:BAJE), which rose 3.60% or 8.80 points to trade at 253.40 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NSE:HALC) added 2.43% or 14.85 points to end at 626.30 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NSE:EICH) was up 1.93% or 91.20 points to 4,810.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NSE:REDY), which fell 2.63% or 31.55 points to trade at 1,165.85 in late trade. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NSE:TCS) declined 2.30% or 89.10 points to end at 3,784.10 and Infosys Ltd (NSE:INFY) down 2.22% or 41.15 points to 1,810.80.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Zomato Ltd (BO:ZOMT) which rose 4.86% to 234.10, Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 1.54% to settle at 1,009.15 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which gained 1.50% to close at 3,269.00.
The worst performers were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 2.21% to 1,810.60 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which lost 2.17% to settle at 3,785.60 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 2.07% to 2,248.20 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 1804 to 521 and 76 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2704 rose and 1097 declined, while 112 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.15% to 15.48.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.47% or 13.79 to $2,962.79 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.72% or 0.52 to hit $72.35 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.67% or 0.51 to trade at $76.35 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.03% to 86.84, while EUR/INR fell 0.22% to 90.58.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 107.07.
