Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Healthcare and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.12%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NSE:BJFS), which rose 3.39% or 60.55 points to trade at 1,849.25 at the close. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NSE:SUN) added 3.10% or 52.50 points to end at 1,746.35 and Tata Steel Ltd (NSE:TISC) was up 3.00% or 3.97 points to 136.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adani Enterprises Ltd (NSE:ADEL), which fell 4.62% or 108.75 points to trade at 2,244.70 in late trade. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NSE:APSE) declined 1.54% or 17.40 points to end at 1,111.55 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NSE:HROM) down 1.47% or 59.20 points to 3,956.55.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which rose 3.06% to 136.30, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was up 2.97% to settle at 1,840.60 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which gained 2.88% to close at 1,742.35.
The worst performers were Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which was down 1.90% to 1,108.00 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 1.19% to settle at 1,841.65 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was down 1.12% to 3,252.60 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 1269 to 1025 and 99 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2026 fell and 1762 advanced, while 127 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
Shares in Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NSE:HROM) fell to 52-week lows; losing 1.47% or 59.20 to 3,956.55.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.91% to 15.03.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.51% or 14.99 to $2,943.69 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.54% or 1.10 to hit $70.27 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.44% or 1.08 to trade at $74.10 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.01% to 86.89, while EUR/INR rose 0.34% to 90.54.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 107.50.
