Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Consumer Durables, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.03%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Reliance Industries Ltd (NSE:RELI), which rose 3.32% or 40.20 points to trade at 1,249.80 at the close. Nestle India Ltd (NSE:NEST) added 1.69% or 37.25 points to end at 2,238.45 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (NSE:BAJA) was up 1.51% or 112.50 points to 7,574.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NSE:INBK), which fell 3.60% or 34.95 points to trade at 936.75 in late trade. NTPC Ltd (NSE:NTPC) declined 2.47% or 8.35 points to end at 329.55 and Shriram Finance Ltd. (NSE:SHMF) down 2.10% or 13.50 points to 630.85.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which rose 3.01% to 1,247.00, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was up 1.28% to settle at 647.95 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which gained 0.92% to close at 2,222.00.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 3.71% to 935.00 in late trade, Zomato Ltd (BO:ZOMT) which lost 3.64% to settle at 217.20 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 2.29% to 330.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 1533 to 809 and 88 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2427 rose and 1405 declined, while 122 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.80% to 13.48.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.02% or 0.56 to $2,926.04 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.52% or 1.01 to hit $67.37 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.53% or 1.06 to trade at $70.52 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.07% to 86.95, while EUR/INR rose 0.61% to 94.44.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 103.60.
