Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Metals, Technology and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 1.82% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:SHMF), which rose 9.49% or 254.15 points to trade at 2,933.15 at the close. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) added 5.75% or 86.20 points to end at 1,586.25 and Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) was up 5.32% or 242.00 points to 4,789.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which fell 1.10% or 3.70 points to trade at 332.10 in late trade. Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) declined 0.11% or 2.65 points to end at 2,478.00 and Axis Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) down 0.08% or 0.90 points to 1,175.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 4.25% to 1,511.00, Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was up 3.57% to settle at 524.90 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which gained 3.41% to close at 1,722.00.
The worst performers were Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was down 0.05% to 2,479.15 in late trade, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which lost 0.03% to settle at 2,708.35 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was down 0.02% to 1,616.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 1490 to 689 and 26 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2496 rose and 1273 declined, while 102 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
Shares in Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) rose to all time highs; up 5.75% or 86.20 to 1,586.25. Shares in Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) rose to 52-week highs; up 5.32% or 242.00 to 4,789.00. Shares in Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) rose to all time highs; up 4.25% or 61.60 to 1,511.00. Shares in Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.41% or 56.80 to 1,722.00.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.47% to 12.18.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.81% or 19.10 to $2,372.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.32% or 0.25 to hit $78.03 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.32% or 0.26 to trade at $82.11 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.04% to 83.72, while EUR/INR rose 0.05% to 90.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 104.11.
