Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Consumer Durables and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 1.22%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.97%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NSE:TACN), which rose 5.99% or 57.95 points to trade at 1,024.65 at the close. Bharat Electronics Ltd (NSE:BAJE) added 4.99% or 13.90 points to end at 292.65 and Trent Ltd (NSE:TREN) was up 4.39% or 242.00 points to 5,753.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NSE:BRTI), which fell 0.88% or 14.45 points to trade at 1,626.30 in late trade. JSW Steel Ltd (NSE:JSTL) declined 0.62% or 5.85 points to end at 945.00 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NSE:BJFS) down 0.52% or 9.10 points to 1,736.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which rose 4.37% to 3,569.30, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 3.95% to settle at 995.00 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which gained 3.71% to close at 2,301.00.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 0.76% to 1,627.95 in late trade, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which lost 0.27% to settle at 1,740.00 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 0.14% to 7,888.60 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 1687 to 592 and 115 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2594 rose and 1169 declined, while 122 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 7.03% to 16.17.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.02% or 0.56 to $2,844.64 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.14% or 0.10 to hit $72.63 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.26% or 0.20 to trade at $75.69 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.06% to 86.60, while EUR/INR fell 0.09% to 89.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.43% at 108.09.
