Trump slaps 30% tariffs on EU, Mexico
Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Auto, Capital Goods and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.60%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Auto Ltd (NSE:BAJA), which rose 2.39% or 209.00 points to trade at 8,950.00 at the close. JSW Steel Ltd (NSE:JSTL) added 2.17% or 21.90 points to end at 1,030.40 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NSE:MAHM) was up 2.04% or 61.40 points to 3,074.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Eternal Ltd (NSE:ETEA), which fell 4.59% or 10.90 points to trade at 226.65 in late trade. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NSE:PGRD) declined 0.47% or 1.40 points to end at 296.70 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NSE:KTKM) down 0.43% or 9.10 points to 2,091.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 2.17% to 3,077.75, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was up 1.55% to settle at 1,673.80 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which gained 1.51% to close at 2,450.00.
The worst performers were Eternal Ltd (BO:ETEA) which was down 4.55% to 226.65 in late trade, UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which lost 0.47% to settle at 11,685.40 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 0.39% to 296.90 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 1357 to 1043 and 33 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2161 rose and 1752 declined, while 189 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 4.66% to 18.08.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.06% or 35.99 to $3,358.51 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.24% or 0.15 to hit $61.38 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.28% or 0.18 to trade at $64.03 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.09% to 85.10, while EUR/INR rose 0.03% to 96.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 98.93.
