Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Banking, Consumer Durables and IT sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.34%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL), which rose 2.85% or 81.05 points to trade at 2,920.00 at the close. ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) added 2.38% or 28.80 points to end at 1,236.95 and Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:SHMF) was up 2.30% or 74.50 points to 3,310.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which fell 2.96% or 9.15 points to trade at 299.65 in late trade. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) declined 2.48% or 40.25 points to end at 1,583.00 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) down 1.26% or 4.45 points to 347.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which rose 2.84% to 2,919.00, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was up 2.03% to settle at 1,233.00 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which gained 1.95% to close at 511.45.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 2.54% to 1,582.20 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which lost 1.16% to settle at 149.50 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 1.10% to 390.80 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 1529 to 965 and 26 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2291 fell and 1581 advanced, while 139 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
Shares in Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) rose to all time highs; up 2.85% or 81.05 to 2,920.00. Shares in Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:SHMF) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.30% or 74.50 to 3,310.15. Shares in Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) rose to all time highs; rising 2.84% or 80.55 to 2,919.00. Shares in ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) rose to all time highs; rising 1.95% or 9.80 to 511.45.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 6.67% to 14.20.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.03% or 0.80 to $2,523.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.66% or 0.45 to hit $68.12 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.62% or 0.44 to trade at $71.50 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.03% to 83.96, while EUR/INR fell 0.42% to 92.71.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.49% at 101.64.
