Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Insurance, Technology and Consumer & Cyclical sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Basic Resources, Retail and Construction sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.20%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.10%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG), which rose 4.10% or 7.650 points to trade at 194.100 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) added 3.63% or 0.660 points to end at 18.840 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) was up 1.57% or 2.750 points to 177.900 in late trade.
Biggest losers included E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which lost 0.88% or 0.062 points to trade at 6.973 in late trade. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) declined 0.79% or 0.720 points to end at 90.010 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) shed 0.77% or 0.095 points to 12.240.
The top performers on the MDAX were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which rose 3.08% to 4.71, Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which was up 1.61% to settle at 135.750 and Talanx AG NA O.N. (DE:TLXGn) which gained 1.14% to close at 32.465.
The worst performers were Metro AG ST O.N. (DE:MEOG) which was down 3.09% to 30.915 in late trade, Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which lost 2.15% to settle at 53.280 and Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which was down 1.70% to 28.000 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which rose 3.77% to 50.630, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was up 3.21% to settle at 8.206 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which gained 1.93% to close at 37.775.
The worst performers were Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was down 1.85% to 42.135 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which lost 1.42% to settle at 23.570 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 1.04% to 44.150 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 434 to 297 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.50% to 15.08.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.14% or 1.75 to $1221.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.39% or 0.21 to hit $53.75 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.44% or 0.25 to trade at $56.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.27% to 1.0788, while EUR/GBP rose 0.38% to 0.8620.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 99.62.
